Training 1: 1 year
Training 2: Years 2–3
Training 3: Years 4–5 (available in select sectors)

Basic education
Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N5 or JFT-Basic)
Medical clearance

Recent Policy Shift

Japan is planning to replace the current TITP with a new trainee system. This allows 3-year visa holders to upgrade to skilled worker status (SSW) for up to 5 years and potentially pursue permanent residency.
